Discover the work of Czech-British artist Tereza Bušková and her unique project “Mothers Without Hands,” which addresses the sensitive topic of violence against women through community art, workshops, and processions. At this stage, architecture students will turn the children’s designs into reality! Children and teenagers will install prototypes of their designs in public spaces, where people will be able to try them out and respond to them. Using pop-up installations, modular elements, and interactive objects, they will test how their ideas work in a real-world environment. The local community will be involved in this testing and will provide immediate feedback – what works well, what could be improved, and how the space could be even more useful. This will allow children to discover how different groups of people use the city and how their ideas can contribute to its improvement.

The U voršilek housing facility, built by Vesna and the Brno Diocese with tremendous support from volunteers and donors, has provided a home for hundreds of vulnerable people over the past three years. As part of Architecture Days, architect Eva Eichlerová will present how a dilapidated building was transformed into a safe haven for women with children, how the construction work was carried out, including modifications to the layout and technical facilities, and how the community structure of the entire place was gradually formed. The project shows how architecture can respond quickly and meaningfully to a crisis, while also raising questions about the sustainable use of empty buildings in the city.

Under the guidance of designer Adam Kvaček, you will work together to create crowns/headdresses for the final procession of the Mothers Without Hands project in the Czech Republic and the UK. Salon dances and popular classics, folk music and precise forms. The Serious Interest music project promoting house concerts has been running successfully for many years. This time, for the first time, it will present a public concert at the Brno educational institute Vesna, and right in its most beautiful space. Jurkoviček’s room with its beautifully carved furniture will be filled with music, the central theme of which is the cello. The renowned Czech player Tomáš Jamník and his students will present traditional repertoire by the classical composers Mysliveček and Barrière or a polonaise by the outstanding composer of salon pieces David Popper. In unexpected arrangements, the temperament of Bartók’s Romanian dances and the loveliness of Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations will be revealed. Great art does not necessarily need halls for thousands of people – there are none in Brno anyway. With musicians on hand and in a home-like setting, the music touches the audience much more intimately.

DIP Theatre’s interactive sound and storytelling production for children aged 4 and up, based on the novel by Astrid Lindgren. Jéran spends a lot of time in his cot because his legs are sick. One day, a little elf named Lilikwit appears and shows him the Land of Twilight. During the performance, the children will be able to try out different effects and microphone work, allowing them to really experience some of the characters and atmospheres for themselves.

The guide Zdeňka Pitrunová will focus on the social history connected with various forms of love, sexuality and partner hatred in Brno. On St. Valentine’s Day, we will walk through the city together and learn about, among other things, the famous medieval noble romance of Eliška Rejčka (Elizabeth called Richeza) and Jindřich z Lipé (Henry of Lipá). We will recall what the god-fearing people were forbidden to do in bed at home and where they eventually realized their erotic tastes. There will also be spicy stories from historical love trysts. And the whole town smells of stone rose
A literature and arts project for people living in Brno, regardless of origin or language. Does Brno deserve a poem in your native language? Do you dare to write poetry in Czech?
Brno Poetry through the eyes of foreigners
The project And the Whole Town Smells of the Rose of Stone, named after a poem by Jan Skácel, is a follow-up to the successful project My Life with Brno, which in 2023 involved dozens of “new Brno citizens” of various origins. The foreigners wrote short stories about their relationship with Brno, and other participants responded to these texts through a series of workshops led by Brno artists.
The first part of the project focuses on works of literature. Many foreigners, male and female, living in Brno are interested in exploring Czech culture more deeply, responding to it and even participating in it.
With the support of the Poetic Brno Project (www.brnopoeticke.cz) and several meetings with writers, we want to encourage their interest in poetry connected with Brno and possibly spark their own creative ambitions. We invite foreigners living in Brno to write short poetic pieces on the theme of “Brno poetry” – lyrical prose / poem / haiku / variations on folk song. We deliberately chose this genre because it touches people mainly on an emotional level. Foreigners face a language barrier and when their vocabulary is not sufficient, poetry will act as a condensed form of language.
In the visual art section, participants will illustrate the newly created works of literature or the already existing works about Brno (Blatný, Kainar, Skácel, Mikulášek, Krchovský, Ohnisko…). The workshops will be led by Brno artists and art school teachers, with an emphasis on a variety of
techniques and approaches.
The workshops will primarily be attended by foreigners living in Brno, but also by Czechs, male and female, and will be open to all generations. The workshops will therefore create a space for joint intercultural and intergenerational creation.

The Feste Theater in cooperation with Vesna is preparing a theatrical performance about mental state of teenagers. April 2-5 and 8-10 several theatrical workshops will take place in Vesna na Údolní 10 in Brno with director Jiří Honzírek and actors (Maria Tatarynova, Daria Novikova, Tibor Kotlár). During April, Divadlo Feste will stage five performances in Ukraine, the Czech premiere of the ŽAL will take place in Vesna in April-May. Many people have direct or indirect experience with violence in close relationships. Whether as a person who commits violence, or a person who experiences violence, or a person who witnesses it. It can be challenging to admit that such things are happening around you or even with you. It’s even more difficult to take the next step and resolve the situation by leaving, for example. The exit from a toxic relationship is possible, and it can be useful to know what exactly to do. How to leave safely? What to do if there are children involved? How to talk to them? Who can you talk to about the situation? What organizations can help? What you shouldn’t forget? How to plan it all?
We’ll talk about this all so you will know how to act when such a situation appears.

17:00 Karel Absolon’s mammoth projects and what has Vesna in common with it
Karel Absolon (1877-1960) is a Czech archaeologist, geographer, paleontologist, and speleologist, the discoverer of the Moravský kras and Věstonická Venus. He was a professor of paleoanthropology at Charles University and the custodian of the Moravian Regional Museum in Brno, but above all he represented the extraordinary cultural atmosphere of interwar Czechoslovakia. However, the future iconic researcher was primarily shaped by his family, among others, by his aunt Lucía Bakešová, co-creator of Vesna at the end of the 19th century. The lecture will be enriched with archival documents from the Karel Absolon family album.

Our Wardrobe service is getting ready to pack its winter clothes and shoes. But we believe that nice clothes should find its people, so we invite you to last minute action. Come to us and get something beautiful without registration. Wardrobe opening day welcomes everyone! By the way, the wardrobe is a place where our amazing volunteers work and you can join them.

Kids Dance Classes
Contemporary dance style. The teacher is Natalia Andriichenko. Tuesday and Friday.
- children from 3 to 7 years old – from 16:00 to 17:00
- children from 8 to 11 years old – from 17:00 to 18:00
- children from 12 to 16 years old – from 18:00 to 19:00
Monthly fee is 550 Kč.
Dance Gymnastics with Elements of Acrobatics Classes for Children
Children can develop balance, flexibility, endurance and strength. On Sundays, in two age groups of 1.5 hours each class. The teacher is Natalia Andriichenko.
- 9–14 years – from 14:00 to 15:30
- 4–8 years – from 15:30 to 17:00
Monthly fee is 280 Kč for dance classes participants, 370 Kč for others.
Fitness
Fitness&dance training for women on Tuesday and Friday, 19:00–20:00.
550 Kč per month, 90 Kč per hour. The teacher is Natalia Andriichenko.
During the training Vesna offers babysitting services. The children’s room is equipped with toys, a babysitter will take care of your child. For mothers/grandmothers who came to any Vesna activity, the service is free for the time of the activity.
Coworking + babysitting
On Tuesdays and Fridays from 16:00 to 20:00, Vesna offers women a coworking space with good Wi-Fi and babysitting.

- Only children’s playroom with babysitter – 40 Kč per hour
- Coworking + babysitting – 80 Kč per hour
Music Classes for Kids
Basic music course for children aged 3-7. Children learn the basics of musical literacy, major and minor keys, rhythm and meter, melody and harmony in an easy, playful way. The practical part of the classes includes popular orchestral and piano music, elements of a noise orchestra, basic conductor gestures. The teacher is Asia Suchina.

Lego Classes
Lego Classes for children 3-6 years old are built on a method for development of basic sensory and logical-mathematical skills (2 movement games + didactic game + own construction). The teacher is Olena Bychkovska.
